We continue our month-long International Women's Day Mix Series with the capital’s finest girl-power trio and newest FLY residents, DISCO TITS.
The girls have burst onto the scene in recent years, demonstrating their love for all things house and techno. Last year saw their Ibiza debut, warm up sets for Holly Lester and LF SYSTEM, two FLY Club headline shows and a massive Hogmanay show at the Caves.
The trio head back to the FLY helm at Cabaret Voltaire in April for their first residency show of the year, before making their FLY Open Air mainstage debut in May.
We expect huge things from the girls in 2023, and can’t wait to welcome them to the FLY family.
We've asked the girls a few questions so you can get to know them...
Tell us a bit about yourself?
We are Ellie, Emily, and Becca! An all-female DJ collective from Edinburgh. We met at uni in 2019
and became great friends from going down the Cowgate together every other night… it didn’t take
long before we realised that we all shared a love for groovy tunes.
As there are three of us and we all love to play a variety of tunes combining disco, house, trance and
electro - no one set is ever the same. Within our mix we have tried to encapsulate how we like to
play live from start to finish. Hope you like it.
How did you get into DJ’ing?
Lockdown hit and we each decided to buy a cheap controller to pass the time. After a few months of
self-teaching, we were all buzzing to actually give it a shot. When the clubs finally opened again, a
few of our friends gave us the opportunity to play some bar slots and we were hooked!! By
Halloween 2021 we formed Disco Tits and had our first warm up gig in the Mash House.
What’s in the pipeline for you right now?
We are playing alongside Mark Blair for FLY’s St Paddy’s Rave this Friday, and have our own headline
gig coming up at Cab Vol on the 28 th April. Festival season also kicks off in May and we are so excited
to be playing at Cultivate Fest and FLY Open Air.
It is shaping up to be an amazing year already and can’t wait to see where it takes us.
Keep an eye on our soundcloud too! We release a monthly mix where we play our current
favourites.
What’s been the best moment in your career so far?
Best moment so far was definitely playing in the world famous Eden Ibiza last summer! It was a
surreal experience and hopefully won’t be the last time Disco Tits go abroad!!
We are also so buzzing to finally announce that we are FLY ressies and want to thank the team for
believing in us! It has been a crazy 18 months and pretty full on, but it’s class to see such a positive
response.
Which women do you look up to the most?
We absolutely look up to our Mum’s the most- they made us the women we are today! They are so
supportive of what we are doing (even though they were not so keen on our name at first!). They
will all be coming to see us play for the first time on the main stage at Hopetoun House which will be
so special, and we can’t wait to share the moment with them!
What’s your guilty pleasure tune?
We have far too many… but one of our favourites would have to be Cry For You by Cascada!
Favourite club?
Hands down would have to be Cab Vol. We have been going there since day one and would never
have dreamed of getting the opportunity to headline but we’ve been lucky enough to do it a few
times now. We love a bit of Sneaky Pete’s too!
Can’t forget about Sub Club either, hopefully one day someone gives us a shot on their decks.
Biggest inspo?
LF System for sure! It’s been wild to see them blow up over the past year.
We had the honour of warming up for them back in November to a sold-out Liquid Rooms and it was
unreal, bouncing from wall to wall. It defo gave us a taste of what it could be like to be on that kind
of level. Their tunes are right up our street too!
Festival or club?
Festival!! Nothing beats a summer festival in the sun with your pals. We cannot wait to Kick off the
festival season at Hopetoun this May… See you there!
